A bedroom chair bargain

So I know it’s been a while since my last update (click here to catch up), on my master bedroom revamp. Things moved along nicely and then we hit a wall (a freshly painted one LOL!!!!)
The main issue is the window dressings, but that’s a whole other episode. I’ll save that for later, I am not ready to talk about it yet.

On the positive side, we did snap up a bargain, albeit in the need of a little TLC, but what the heck!!!!

We are lucky that our bedroom is big enough for us to have a little seating area, it’s in a sunny corner which is just lovely in the spring and and Autumn, but a bit hot in summer.

This was the chair we had in that spot before the make over. DSCN0156It’s an Ikea Jennylund armchair and it was a freebie, yay!! A neighbour didn’t want it anymore and left it in the communal parking area for someone else to take and use. It needed a new cover. Luckily I found Bemz, a company in Sweden who makes covers in an amazing range of fabrics for almost any Ikea models.

Now this chair has served to purpose well, but it was not going to fit in with the new look. So we was on the hunt for something different.

We were after something a little bit Mid Century, so we hopped it down to the best vintage shops in Sydney.

That’s when we found this gem at the wonderful little store Retro Spectrum in Petersham, run by the lovely Dannielle. The Fella tried it out and was smitten. It reclines and is so comfy.

Now I know it’s not much to look at now, buy I have plans for this baby.

Firstly it needs a bit of a sand and some polishing, the arms are a bit faded compared to the legs and it also needs some work on the support underneath.

And the really important bit it’s new clothing.

This fabric choice is from Warwick Fabrics and is a subtle grey with a good texture to it. I think it is gonna look great against the dark grey walls.

So when the upholsterer comes back from his vacation, this little beauty will be off for a make over.

Can’t wait to see and share the finished article!!
